The area
of specialization in Product Development Technology (PDT) is
designed for students who have a strong academic background and/or
work
experience
in such specific engineering
disciplines
as aerospace, automotive, biomedical, electrical, civil, computer,
mechanical, etc.
The PDT curriculum
has more emphasis on
the technology aspects of new product development
activities. It is mainly based on the engineering design curriculum
available from the
Aerospace
and Mechanical Engineering Department, supplemented
by some computer-aided engineering courses from the Civil
and Environmental Engineering Department.
Students in
the Technology specialization can choose those required
courses and
technical electives from the System specialization area as
their general
elective
courses, giving them the opportunities to broaden their knowledge.
Limited course credits from other institutions can be accepted
as general electives upon faculty consent.
A specialization
in Technology in MSPDE should prepare students who are interested
in developing a career as a product development engineer or a chief
engineer in a new product development team. |
