2003 Results

2003 January Meeting in Paris, France ---

  • "Some Critical Thoughts on the Future of CAPP Research", by Stephen. Lu, January 2003, (Presentation)
    • This presentation suggested to the CIRP community to establish a new ECN Working Group as a continuing effort to the accomplished CAPP WG in STC/O. The technical justifications and logical links between CAPP and ECN are made.
  • "Report on the CIRP Working Group CAPP 2000-2003", by Kess van Luttervelt, February 2003, (Document)
    • This final report to CIRP formally endorsed the establishment of the new ECN WG as a continuing effort to the accomplished CAPP WG. It suggested that the ECN WG should report to both STC/Dn and STC/O.

2003 August Meeting in Montreal, Canada ---

  • "The Vision, Mission, Goals, and Tasks of ECN/WG", by Stephen Lu, August 2003, (Presentation)
    • This presentation laid out the vision, mission, goals and tasks for the ECN WG within the 3-year period for group discussions. It also contained an introduction of the new ECN decision style, and how it is different from the traditional engineering paradigms.
  • "ECN WG Report to STCs A/Dn/O", by Robert G. Wilhelm, September 2003, (Presentation)
    • This presentation was prepared for the STCs A/Dn/O as a summary of the ECN WG discussions and plans made at the August 2003 CIRP GA meeting in Montreal, Canada.
